Effectively communicating with Gen Z via digital is crucial for any organisation looking to stay relevant. We've got your back with eight handy tips on how to structure your app or website content to really click with your Gen Z audience.

  1. Be Authentic: Gen Z values authenticity above all else. When creating your app or website content, ensure that your messaging is genuine and let your local authority's personality shine through. Skip the formal jargon and use a more conversational tone that resonates with this generation.
  2. Use Visuals: Add something eye-catching such as images, videos, and infographics into your content. Gen Z is highly visual and is more likely to engage with content that they can look at, and that's aesthetically pleasing. Use visuals to communicate information in a clear and concise way - make it easy to digest.
  3. Embrace Short-form Content: Gen Z has a short attention span, so keep that content short and sweet! Use quick, punchy sentences, bullet points, brief descriptions and short videos. Ditch the long paragraphs and opt for bite-sized content instead.
  4. Be Responsive: Gen Z expects instant communication and quick responses! Ensure that your app or website is quick and easy to use, particularly on mobile devices. Add in features such as private chat support and push notifications for good measure.
  5. Stay Updated on Trends: Gen Z is constantly evolving, so keeping up to date with the latest trends is key to effectively engaging with this demographic. Keep up with trending social media platforms and language, to ensure your content remains relevant and resonates with Gen Z.
  6. Be Open to Learning: Don't be afraid to learn from Gen Z! Take their feedback on board, listen to what they have to say, and adapt your content accordingly. Run surveys and monitor analytics to gain further insights and really improve your user engagement.
  7. Respect Privacy: Privacy is a big deal for Gen Z - they expect organisations to respect their personal information. Be crystal clear about your data policies and give them the power to control their privacy settings.
  8. Encourage Collaboration: Want to really win over Gen Z? Get them involved in the content creation process! Ask for their input, encourage user-generated content, and let them know that their voices matter. This not only empowers users but also helps to create a sense of ownership and loyalty, and will improve engagement ongoing.
